There is a plethora of excellent Quaker and resonant material in use around mysticism, quantum science, contemplation, and the revitalization of Quakerism. There are as many pathways toward the goal of “being love” in service to the planet as there are Quaker Friends.

Therefore members of the Quaker Pathways Forward – Rekindling the Fire of Fox community-of-practice are enthusiastically encouraged to avail themselves of the publications, programs, curriculum, retreats, training, and study guides which enhance spiritual deepening. These are “supports to our practice” – tools that help to purposefully focus intent.

Some seminal offerings are listed herein. Continue reading Supports to Practice: Quaker Resources on Mysticism, Quantum Science, Contemplation, and Quaker Revitalization

Community of Practice: Imagery

Visualization is the language we use to communicate with the unconscious mind. Imagining ourselves doing something activates the same parts of the brain that are triggered by actually performing the action.

The brain is malleable —constantly rewiring itself in response to stimulae. We can use visualization intentionally, choosing mental images and simulations which align us with our most resourceful selves. With sufficient repetition, purposefully focused visualization will physically alter the brain in ways that serve us. We take command and control of our own neurons, the fundmental building blocks of our nervous systems, directing them to fire and form neuronal pathways that refine who we are. Visualization strengthened by strong emotion creates powerful neural pathways.

Accurate guidance comes only from within while in CONSCIOUS unity with the undifferentiated, quantum field of unified intelligence.

Community-of-practice group dynamic: Rekindling the Fire of Fox practices are incessantly evolving and emerge from community-of-practice participants’ direct personal experiences.

As practitioners record each practice and their experiences in writing,  they integrate both brain function and subjective experience.

Writing  our insights with a utensil other than a keyboard during small group sessions is, in and of itself part of a balancing, healing, awareness-expanding process. Continue reading Rekindling the Fire of Fox: An Evolving Community-of-Practice

We had gotten wind of this talk at a meeting on climate organizing in San Antonio, where we had picked up a flyer describing Boyce Simms as “an engaged Eco-Buddhist” who “works to transform anger and despair into compassion toward neighbors, communities, and the environment.” Given Deceleration‘s concern not just with questions of climate justice but with the affective (or inner/emotional) work required to sustain effective action in the face of mounting climate and social crises, we were intrigued. “Have you anything to declare?” is a vital challenge to which every one of us is personally called to respond and is also a challenge that every meeting should consider of primary importance. it should lead us to define, with such clarity as we can reach, precisely what it is the Friends of this generation have to say that is not, as we believe, being said effectively by others. Global society faces an existential crisis.
Quakers have historically been a catalyst in American social transformation.
Many Friends have the capacity to tap into archival memory, the DNA of Quaker contemplative practice, and leadings therefrom to guide people through the narrow straights of climate change disruptions, economic upheaval and systems collapse.
The time has come again for Friends to stand in the epicenter of social transformation and model an evolutionary response to society’s multi-tiered, existential challenges. Continue reading Rekindling the Fire of Fox: Quaker Evolutionary Culture-building

Quakers who celebrate their unity with nature, like Buddhists, know that separation of humans from nature is an artificial construct.
In fact, the absence of an isolated, permanent self which is separate and independent of the environment is at the heart of Buddhist practice. In Buddhism, “no [permanent] self” is the first “mark of existence.” i understand my “self” to be a process –a continually changing flow of interactions with my environment. Therefore, i am my environment and my environment is me. Continue reading Buddhists, Friends, and Buddhist-Quaker Harmonic Unity with Nature

Friends it’s time to shed the vestiges of outworn caterpillar thinking. Our planet faces an existential crisis. Climate change, resource depletion, and income disparity are now hastened by an unhinged political landscape, and we are racing toward the edge of a cliff!
Throughout history Quakers have repeatedly held and activated the equivalent of transformational “imaginal cells” which have triggered metamorphoses in American social norms and behavior. Continue reading Quaker Pathways Forward Ministry
